NEW PLYMOUTH SEAT
MR. J. ROBERTS NOT STANDING. MR. THOMAS TO CONSIDER MATTER. Mr. J. Roberts, Wellington, will .not be contesting the New Plymouth seat for the Labour Party at the general elections. In making the announcement to a reporter last night, Mr. S. Flood, presideqt'uf the New Plymouth Labour Representation Committee, said Mr. Roberts’ decision was made owing to circumstances which Mr. Flood did mot disclose. Mr. W. A. Thomas, Oakura, has agreed seriously to consider a suggestion that he should offer himself for nomination for the seat in the interests of Labour. Mr. Thomas is chairman of directors of the Patua Co-operative Dairy Company, of which he has been a supplier for many years. For about ten years he has been a member of the Taranaki County Council.
