COLD CONDITIONS CONTINUE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A few scattered showers are likely at first on the east coast and in the far north, but the weather is improving, states the 4 p.m. forecast. Elsewhere the weather will be fine and cold, with some frosts. An anti-cyclone is advancing across the Tasman, the centre being to the north and pressure is rising over the New Zealand area. A fresh depression is developing Over south-eastern Australia. Winds will- be south-west to south-east, moderate to strong but gradually decreasing and turning to northerly later in the southern half of the South Island. Seas will be rough at first north of Farewell Spit and south of East Cape, but smooth to moderate elsewhere.
