ELEPHANT’S CHARGE
GIRL TRAMPLED UNDERFOOT. ANIMAL FRIGHTENED BY DOG. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 7.30 p.m. New York, June 8. An infuriated circus elephant breaking from his trainer during a performance charged into the stands and spread panic among thousands of persons and trampled to death a nine-year-old girl at Crookstone, Minnesota, to-day. Over 20 other persons suffered injuries. The elephant was afterwards captured. The trainer explained that the animal was suffering a stomach ailment and was frightened by a dog.
