INTEREST AROUSED AT ALTON., — \ 7' ■ • I Ten teams competed at Alton last week in a tug-of-war contest arranged on behalf of the Patea Band’s funds, the fixtures creating keen interest. Excitement was greatest in the two pulls between Cunnison’s and Hunt's teams, which resulted in a draw.
