KING’S BIRTHDAY TOURNAMENT. F. D. JOHNS DEFEATS T. BROPHY. Favoured with perfect weather, members of the Cape Egmont Golf Club held a successful tournament at the weekend. The principal event, the Kings birthday championship, was won by I. D Johns, who defeated T. Brophy 2 up and 1 in the final. The Cape Egmont ’ handicap was won by A. Roots, whoi de- ’ feated A. J. Brennan 1 up at the 19th. The following qualified for the championship: T. Brophy F. D. Johns 89, R. B. Heming 89, K. P. Tompkms 92, T. Kira 98, T. Hana 99, L. Beardmore 99, M. Brennan 99. Match play results were:— CHAMPIONSHIP.. First Round. T. Brophy beat T. Hana 1 up. L. Beardmore beat R. B. Fleming 3 and 2. T. Kira beat K. P. Tompkins 3 and 2. F. D. Johns beat M. Brennan 6 and 4.
