DEMAND FOR WOOL
CHEERFUL OUTLOOK FOR TRADE. GERMANY MAKING UNIFORMS. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, June 2. The Financial News, in the course of an important review on wool, sees a cheerful outlook. “German mills are working at capacity turning out uniforms,” it says. “Stocks are very low and must shortly be replenished, and cash purchases are likely to be increased in the near future. Japan is similarly placed and must need wool, as despite increased exports of woollens she imported 50,000 fewer bales than last year.
“The Russian textile production actually exceeded her plan of estimates for the first time, purchases of raw material from London in January, 1935, being £506,000 compared with £182,000 during the whole of 1934. French purchases also improved. The only large importer not showing signs of increasing purchases is Italy."
