Sad the referendum been carried the Goveniment would have spent £33,000,000 on public works and debt relief. ■ A total of 335,000 electors signed an appeal for the launching of this programme after a long and bitter struggle against , the Centre and Right Parties, who contended that the increased debt involved would have driven Switzerland off • the gold standard.
