EGMONT DOG TRIALS
WOMEN’S WORK APPRECIATED. SUCCESSFUL ENTERTAINMENT, A successful euchre party and dance was held in the Pungarehu hall on Friday in appreciation of tha assistance given by the women at the recent dog trials held by the Cape Egmont Stock Dog Trial Club. About 130 were present, music for dancing being played by the Misses Goodin. Mr. A. Newport was master of ceremonies and Messrs. V. Goodin and R. Vanner controlled .the . euchre, for which prizes were won by Miss M. Jones and Mr. F. Gobdin. Monte Carlo dances were wOn by Miss L. Gilhooly and Mr. P. Mullin. - ’ ‘ The president, Mr. H. Gilhooly, the secretary, Mr. W. Lawrence, and Messrs. F. Smith, G. Pokai, R. Fleming and G. Sole, members of the committee, reprel sented the club. . • i | In presenting the euchre prizes, presented by MesSrs. F. Gable and J. Garcia, Mr. Gilhooly paid .tribute to the good work of the women at the dog trials. It had been a big undertaking under rather exceptional difficulties, but they had, as usual, done much to make the trials successful. Thanks were x- ' pressed to Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Kelly for the use of their property for the dog I trials.
