HURWORTH CARNIVAL
■ TOWN QUEEN IN LEADING PLACE. Hurworth queen carnivaltvoting at present is:—Town Queen 3009 votes, Sports 2412, Country 2300. A ’card' evening was held at the residence of Mr. and. Mrs, R. Gilbert last Saturday in aid of the country queen. The winners were Mrs. R. Allan 1, Mrs. H. Farmer 2, Mr. V. Dravitski-1, Mr. H. Allan 2. ’ f « . On Monday evening a successful flag five hundred was held to the Welbourn Hall in aid of the country queen. Those at the winning table were Mrs. and Miss Furze, Messrs. E. Morris and R. Krutz. Travelling flag winners were Mesdames F. Harrison, R. Allan, Messrs. R. Allan and A. Rider. Consolation prizes were won by Mr., Mrs. and Master T.nnn and Miss S. Brown. A competition was won by Mr. Yeates. . A card party was held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Burkett on Monday. The winners were Mrs. F. Salisbury and Mr. P. Gilbert. Consolation prizes went to Mrs. F. King and Mr. C. SadA children’s carnival afternoon was given to the hall by the sports committee on Tuesday. Competitions were won by lima Farmer and Loma Campbell. A novelty dance was won by Barbara Burkett and Jean Schrider. A solo dance was given by Sonna Sullivan. In the evening a euchre party was held, 12 tables being engaged. Results were: Mrs. F. King 1, Mrs. H. Farmer 2; Mr. Reece Gilbert 1, Mr. P. Burkett 2. A successful euchre party was held in the Frankley Road school on Thursday in aid of the sports queen. The winners were: Mesdames Richardson 1, Brookes. 2; -Mr. K. Harrison 1, Mr. D. Wads Worth 2. . Personal News. Mr. G. Pepperell is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. E. Pepperell.. Mr. K. Harrison has taken over the farm lately occupied by Mrs. Farnham.
