BIG DEATH ROLL EARTHQUAKE AT QUETTA EVERY BUILDING DOWN COMMUNICATION BROKEN SEVERE SHAKES RECUR By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 12.55 a.m. London, May 31. Quetta, the capital of British Baluchistan, was razed by severe earthquake shocks. It is believed that many are killed, one report giving the number at nearly 40,000. The dead including Government officials and 43 members of the Royal Air Force.

Civil and railway areas were devastated but military areas were undamaged; Sir Alexander Cater, British Commissioner, telephbned the Punjab Government to rush nurses and doctors to the Stricken area.

A later report said the whole city was razed. The telegraph lines are dislocated. Shocks varying in intensity and lasting between 30, and 60 seconds are recurring. All buildings in the countryside between Quetta and Kalat have been razed.

It is reported that four-fifths of the population has been killed.
