REPAIRS TO SCHOOL
EDUCATION DEPARTMENT GRANT. TRIMBLE MEMORIAL SUGGESTED. — . ' For additional work required on the Stratford Technical High School as advised by the Public Works Department district engineer a grant of £73 17s 4d, two-thirds of the total cost of £llO 16s, has been granted by the Education De-, partment, according to advice received by the school board at its monthly meeting. There were present Mr. J. McAllister (chairman), Mrs. L. Gibson, Messrs. F. G. Francis, H. Bishop, E. H. Eason, A. Ferguson, T. T. Murray and A. H. R. Amtss, principal. The department also wrote forwarding £5 as progress payment , for the grant for the entertainment of the children in tcommemoration of the King’s jubilee. ' The principal reported that the attendance for the month had been satisfactory, the total number on the roll being 319. The Public Works Department was en- E deavouring to put in hand the repairs to the roof, during the May holidays, so that further damage would not be done through leakage. The winter games had begun, and the grounds were in good order for the season. The school-would be represented in the football, hockey and basketball competitions arranged by the various associations, and games would also be arranged among the school pupils. A circular letter had been sent Jo schools of Central Taranaki, said Mr. Amess, suggesting that funds be raised to provide a memorial prize for the late Mr. H. Trimble. Replies had already been received from Mangatoki, Inglewood and Kaponga approving the idea. Action was deferred by the board until further letters were received.
