VAUDEVILLE AT OPERA HOUSE. NEW PLYMOUTH PERFORMANCE. . That flesh and blood entertainment of the variety description still command attention Was amply demonstrated last night when Stanley McKay’s Gaieties of 1935 made their final appearance of a three-night session before a capacity house at the New Plymouth Opera House. Bearing the brunt of the work of providing humour, Frank Perrin, an English comedian of large and Ike Delavale, a Jewish comedian, kept the audience in a hilariously happy mood from start to finish. Victor Burke delighted with his Irish songs, while Miss Roach, a talented violinist, ®was of particular appeal. A novelty as far .as New Plymouth audiences are concerned, the yodelling items iby the Newtons were heartily appreciated and tire artists had to respond to insistent encores. 'pecialty dance numbers, sketches and colourful staging of ensembles made for a delightfu' evening’s entertainment. In the afternoon a large number of children attended a , rollicking pantomime. The company will conclude its New Zealand tour at Masterton on Friday next.
