CARNEGIE GRANTS
TWO FELLOWSHIPS AVAILABLE. I — ADVICE FROM THE CORPORATION. By Telegraph—Press' 1 Association. Auckland, Last Night. Two more Camegie kindergarten fellowships will be made available to New Zealand according to advice received from the secretary of the Camegie Corporation of New York by Lady Sidey, vice-president and formerly president of the New .Zealand Free Kindergarten Union, who is at present visiting Auckland. They will be each of £5OO, and one will be available for the academic year 1935-36 and the other for the year 1936-37. The fellowships were granted at the request of Dr. F. P. Keppel, director of the Camegie Corporation of New York, who recently visited New Zealand. Lady Sidey said«ihe suggested to Dr. Keppel that one fellowship should be for Auckland and one for Christchurch, as these districts had" not benefited in the past. The first Carnegie fellowship grant of £5OO awarded in 1932 to enable a 1 promising New Zealand student to visit the fruited States for advanced training work was won by Miss E. Scott, Wellington. A second'fellowship for a similar amount in the following year resulted in the selection of Miss Rene Wilkie, Dunedin.
