AGED WOMAN KILLED
STRUCK BY MOTOR TRUCK WHEEL PASSES OVER HER HEAD. STOOPED TO PICK UP HANDBAG. VISITING AUCKLAND FOR DAY. By Telegraph-Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Shocking injuries to the head which proved instantly fatal were received by a widow, Mrs. Jessie Addis, aged 71, when she was run over by a motor truck in the city to-day. 'Mrs. Addis, who ’ lived at Pukekohe, was visiting Auckland f6r the day. The motor truck, which emerged from Lower Copimerce Street to cross Customs Street, was driven by Mr. L. J. Munro, Onehunga. Mrs. Addis was walking along Customs Street in the direction of the railway station and was crossing Lower Commerce Street when she was struck. The accident was witnessed by a newsboy who was on the opposite side of the street. He said that as Mrs. Addis was crossing she dropped a bag she was carrying and stopped to pick it up. She was struck, as she started walking again. The front part of the truck struck her, knocking her down. She fell partly beneath the truck and one of the twin rear wheels passed over her head, causing instant death.
