MILDER WEATHER

IMPROVEMENT EXPECTED. By Telegraph—Press Association., Wellington, Last Night. Scattered light rain is expected in north and east districts of the North Island, but elsewhere the weather will be fair to fine, becoming gradually milder, states the 4 p.m. forecast. An anticyclone now covers the Dominion, but its centre libs over the southern part of the South Island. Pressure is relatively loir west of the North Island. Strong south-easterly winds are expected at first in the C6ok Strait area, with northerlies prevailing shortly over the South Island. Seas will be rather rough to rough between Kaikoura and East Cape and elsewhere smooth to moderate.
