EGGLESS CHOCOLATE SPONGES. (S6nt by Rachel Henderson.) A, quarter of a pound pf butter, lib sugar, jj* cups flour, 2 tablespoons cocoa, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 cup iriilk, 2 tablespoons golden syrup, 2 level teaspoons soda, J cup dates or nuts. Put half the milk and -' all the sugar, butter and golden Syrup in saucepan to heat. Mix flour, cocoa and cinnamon. Dissolve soda in rest of milk, mix in, then add heated ingredients and mix well. Bake half an hour in shallow dish. Put together with chocolate icing, or bake in one dish and ice top.
