ELTHAM COURT

UNDEFENDED CIVIL ACTIONS. JUDGMENT SUMMONS ORDERS. Judgment by default was given by Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M., in the Eltham Magistrate’s Court yesterday in the following claims: Alf Ware v. Dorothy A. Payton, £2 8s 2d (£1 6s 6d costs); A. A. Hammond v. A. Skedgwell, £l6 Ils 7d (£2 18s); F. Reardon v. Joe Hori, £1 Is 3d (13s); S. E. Carson v. F. G. Haggerty, £1 7s (8s); E. Clare v. J. Ahearn, £5 (£1 3s 6d). On judgment summonses orders made were: J. H. McNamara to pay C. C. Stanners £5 13s lOd (15s 6d), in default fiva days’ imprisonment; D. Evans to pay D. R. Gy de £3 13s Id at the rate of £1 a'month, in default three days’ imprisonment; H. L. Slight to pay Besleys Ltd., £5 5s 6d (15s 6d), in default five days’ imprisonment. A claim for £1 14s made by I. J. Bridger against F. Worthington was disputed by Worthington, who claimed to have paid the account but did not possess the receipt. Mr. Woodward, after hearing the evidence, said he was satisfied the amount was due and gave judgment for £1 14s and 10s costs. Leslie Evans was convicted and fined 10s, costs 10s, on a charge of driving a motor vehicle without proper lights.
