Buyers operated confidently on the Stock Exchange to-day, with the result that nearly every transaction was recorded at an advanced figure, but gold shares lacked a definite trend. Sales were: Commercial Bank of Sydney, £l7 ss; Bank of' New South Wales, £3l; Australian Provincial Assurance, 225; United Insurance, £llss; Adelaide Steam, 30s; Australian Gas A, £8 2s 6d; Tooth’s Brewery, 535; Toohey’s Brewery, 29s 41d; Carlton Brewery, 49s 6d; Dunlop Perdriau (pref.), 36s 3d; Winchombe Carson, 28s; Wilcox Mofflin, 10s 4d; Morris Hedstrom (New Zealand delivery), 19s; ditto pref., 245; Greater J. D. Williams, 6s 9d; Henry Jones, 365; Electrolytic Zinc, 25s 4Jd; Farmers’ 26s 9d; David Jones, 41s 3d; Anthony Hordern, 18s; General Industries, 16s 4Jd; Mount Morgan, 37s 7Jd; Broken Hill Proprietary, 53s 3d; South Broken Hill, 85s 6d; North Broken Hill, £6 0s 6d; Larut Tin, 10s lOd. Sales on the Melbourne Stock Exchange were: National Bank (£lO paid), £l2 15s; Australian Iron and Steel (pref.), 22s lOd; Gordon and Gotch, 465; Herald and Weekly Times, 58s 3d, Mount Lyell, 20s 9d.
