WAITOTARA NEWS

MILITARY BALL SUCCESS. The Waitotara hall presented 'a gay appearance last Friday when the military ball, the first dance of the season, was held. Masses of greenery and bowk of autumn flowers made effective decorations Modern and old-time dancing was enjoyed, Vinsen's orchestra, Stratford, playing the music. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Mr. M. Hartnell and partner. Mr. M. Hartnell was master of ceremonies. Supper arrangements were supervised by Miss McConachy. Visitors were present from Wanganui, Kai Iwi, Waverley and surrounding districts. Mr. and Mrs. E. Story spent the Easter holidays with Mr. and Mrs. A. Thome, Nukumaru. Mr. and Mrs. P. Harting motored to Rotorua at Easter. Mrs. Death spent a few days at Hunterville as the guest of her son, Mr. N. Death. Mr. Parkinson spent the Easter holidays at Puniho with his daughter, Mrs. Gollop. Miss Helen Wilson, who was the guest of Miss N. Blackie, has returned to Wanganui. Miss Eva Parkinson was the guest of Mrs. I. Keith, New Plymouth, for the Easter holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Jones, Wellington, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. G. McConachy. Mr. W. Nicholson paid a short visit to Wellington. Miss Toms, Wanganui, spent the weekend at Waitotara. Miss F. Johansen. Wellington, is staying with her sister, Mrs. W. Dobie, Nukumaru. Mr. G. Richardson spent a few days at New Plymouth. Mrs. E. Parsons and Miss Jean Parsons, Nukumaru, motored to Hawkes Bay to attend the wedding of Miss Joan Gaisford.
