SAFE-BLOWER FAILS

DOOR WITHSTANDS EXPLOSION. JOLL DAIRY OFFICE ENTERED. An unsuccessful' attempt to blow open the safe in the office of the Joll Dairy Company at Okaiawa was made apparently some time in the early hours of yesterday morning. The door was badly damaged but withstood the strain imposed upon it, and apparently nothing was removed from the premises. Several residents in the vicinity heard the noise of an explosion, which they consider in the fight of the subsequeni discovery of the attempt later in the morning to have been the explosion in the office. Apparently, however, no-one investigated at the time, and it was not until the discovery of an open window that inquiry revealed what had occurred. The matter is in the hands of the police, but it is understood that no arrest has yet been made.
