FALL FROM POLE

WIREMAN LANDS ON BACK. ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL. Jumping back from a burning switch on a transformer at Pembroke Road on Wednesday, Edward G. Snell, an employee of the Taranaki Power Board, fell from the pole and suffered injuries that r a used his admission to hospital. He had a cut above the left eye, bruises on the left arm and an injured back. Mr. Snell was attending an oil switch which caught fire. He recoiled to avoid being burned and, missing his footing, fell on to a low tension wire and then to the ground. Though the wire broke his fall to a certain extent he landed heavily on his back.

LEGION OF FRONTIERSMEN. M SQUADRON ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of M. Squadron Legion of Frontiersmen was held at Elfham last Tuesday, Captain Ricketts, D.C.M., presiding over a good attendance of representatives from the various troops. Major Findlater (acting-comman-dant) and R.SM Mather, representing N.Z.H.Q., were also present.. The reports presented indicated a healthy condition of affairs. Captain Ricketts was re-elected unopposed to the office of squadronleader. , Captain Ricketts and Lieut. Scott were appointed delegates to the annual conference at Dunedin.
