UNION JACK STRUCK
FEELING OF REPUBLICANS FEARED. MR. LYONS’ VISIT TO DUBLIN. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 7 p.m. Dublin, April 24. The proprietors of the Royal Hibernian Hotel, at which Mr. J. A. Lyons, Prime Minister of Australia, was staying, hoisted a Union Jack on the hotel, thinking it was also an Australian flag. The police advised its removal owing to the possibility of Republicans tearing it down, upon which it was hauled down. The incident occurred before the arrival of Mr. Lyons. Mr. Lyons in the afternoon visited Kildare, the home of his mother’s family. To-morrow he will unofficially call on Mr. de Valera. He will then go to Belfast at the invitation of Lord Craigavon. He and his party will be the guests of the British Empire League. Dublin presented a strange appearance. Owing to the long continued bus and tram strike the population has taken largely to bicycles, with which the streets are crowded.
