FAREWELL TENDERED
ARMY CITADEL GATHERINGS. MR. AND MRS. SKELLON LEAVE, Farewells were tendered by the New Plymouth Salvation Army Corps on Wednesday to Mr. and Mrs. I. Skellon. and their family, who are leaving for Auckland. In the afternoon Mrs. A. Canty presided over a Home League farewell to Mrs. Skellon, the secretary. Mrs. W. Knott made a presentation and spoke a few words of farewell, and Miss Nola Hargreaves presented a bouquet. Commandant Lumsden also spoke and Mrs. J. Negus and Mrs. (janty sang solos. Afternoon tea was served. In the evening about 100 people attended the farewell reception by the combined corps to Mr. and Mrs. Skellon and their two daughters. Speakers, representing the various corps, were Adjutant Canty (soldiering). Young People’s Sergeant Major, P. C. Francis, RecruitingSergeant T. Lancaster, Band-Sergeant J. Stevenson and Commandant Lumsden. Mr. and Mrs. Skellon replied. Interspersed between the speeches was . community singing, and a recitation was given by Misses Elaine and Audrey Skellon. Sergeant-Major Richardson read scripture and conducted games after the speeches.
