DREAM THAT CAME TRUE
WHEN KELLSBRO’ JACK WON.
Reynoldstown, winner of the Grand National Steeplechase at Aintree on March 29, is a very proficient jumper and has had a good deal of race ex- > perience. His owner-trainer, Major Noel Furlong, has had a considerable amount of success under National Hunt rules. Two years ago he saddled Really True for the Grand National Steeplechase, and the gelding was ridden by the major’s son, Frank, who rode Reynoldstown to victory. Really True, against whom very long odds were offered, gave a first-class performance and beat all - except Kellsboro’ Jack, ridden by the professional Dudley. Williams. After that race Major Furlong’s wife, when talking to Mrs. Ambrose Clark, owner of Kellsboro’ Jack, said:. “My brother-in-law, who is staying with u> dreamed that you horse would win. He told us he had seen quite plainly that No. 7 had won the Grand National and that our horse, Really True, had finished second. So vivid was the dream that he decided to back Kellsboro’ Jack, which was No. 7 on the card, to win and Really True for a place.” This certainly must be classed as a “really true” dream story. Mr. Frank Furlong last year joined his father in superintending their small team in work at Skeffington Hall, Leicester. They began the season with six geldings, all jumpers, two of them being 4 Really True and Reynoldstown. * ~
An interesting development in international soccer relations is referred to by a London correspondent of the Sydney Referee. “Although the Football Association at London refused to grant a game to Germany at the end of this season,” he writes, “it has made a friendly gesture by appointing a German referee to take charge of the Wales v. Ireland international game. It is the first time a Continental referee has appeared at such a game, although the referee in question has had charge of matches at London. Arsenal Club, the English crack side, has been invited to play a game at Moscow.,
