WEDDING

, A quiet wedding took place at Manaia on -Tuesday evening, April 2, the parties being Mary Isabella • (Mollie), second daughter of the late Mr. C. V. Sproull and Mrs. A. Sproull, Manaia, and Melville John, third son of the late:Mr. W. Saywell and Mrs. C. Saywell, Argyle Street, Hawera. The ceremony took place at the residence of the bride’s mother, the minister being the Rev. R. Miller. The bride, who was escorted by her uncle, Mr. W...H. Sproull, Omoana, wore an ankle-length frock of parchment satin and lace ornamented • with pearls, and wore orange blossoms, and. a beautiful hand ■‘worked veil lent by her: cousin, Mrs. E. J. McGregor, Taupiri. She carried a posy of pale pink rosebuds, light autumn-tinted zinnias, begonias and maidenhair fem, with streamers of parchment ribbon. ,Miss Jean Sproull attended her sister as bridesmaid. She wore a frock of wine silk velvet and lace and carried a posy of autumn-tinted gerberas, zinnias and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom was supported by Mr. C. Sproull as best man. The bride’s mother wore a navy frock and carried a posy of dark, autumn shades. The posies were a gift from the bride’s aunt, Mrs. I. Collins,. Hastings. Following the ceremony a number of near relatives sat down to a wedding breakfast, where a large two-tier cake, made and decorated by- the bride’s mother, held pride of place, and was cut with the usual ceremony. A number of toasts were honoured. The bride’s “going away” dress was a chocolate brown costume with hat and shoes to tone. .
