Australian Davis Cup tennis players are participating in the Italian championships. They will play ,at Monte Carlo from Apn 26 to 30 and then go to Eastbourne for the match with New Zealand. A London cable states that in the finals of the Melbury tennis tournament Austin defeated Rogers, 6—l, 6—2 and Miss Round, defeated Miss Stammers, 8—6,6-0. In the men’s semi-final Austin beat Malfroy, 6 —l 6—o. *■ At Pineburst, North Carolina, Allison won the major honours in the annual north and south tennis championship, winning the singles from Gilbert Hall, B_6, 6—2, 6—4, says a New York message.
