BOWLERS’ GOOD AVERAGES ONGARUE BEATS MANSON’S SIDING. HELP FROM THE MATIERE CLUB. Five members of the Matiere Cricket Club played on Sunday for Ongarue, the champion team in the Taumarunui association, against Manson’s Skiing, the champion team in the Kaitieki association, in a match at Ongarue. Batting first Ongarue scored 89 runs, G. Rutherford (16), D. McCracken (12), B. Hamilton (10) and H. Fauchelle (9 not out). Bruce took four wickets for three runs. Manson’s Siding could only score 50 runs in reply, Bruce (16) being the only double-figure scorer. G. Rutherford took six wickets for 30 runs and C. Francis three for 3. Onggrue’s second innings produced 112 runs, J. Delaney (40 retired), G. Rutherford (13), J. V. Ross (12) and D. Kilpin (12). At stumps Manson’s Siding had scored 64 runs for six wickets in the second strike, leaving Ongarue the winner on the first innings by 39 runs. Results are:—
