PRESIDENT AND ADMIRAL BYRD. SPECIAL WELCOME PROGRAMME. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 6.40 p.m. Washington, April 18. White House announced to-day that President Roosevelt would personally greet Rear-Admiral R. E. Byrd on his arrival at Washington on May 10 aboard the Bear of Oakland. The previous expedition returned direct to New York. To-day’s announcement was the first intimidation of the special welcome programme that has been arranged. On the evening of their arrival Admiral Byrd and the members of the expedition will be entertained at a reception by the National Geographic Society.
