INGLEWOOD PROSPECTS
BETTER BACKS PROBABLE \ At first Inglewood’s prospects of placing a strong team on the field for the coming season did not seem very bright, but after the exhibition given by the team against Stratford on Saturday the position is much better.'Practically since the formation of the club Inglewood has fielded a good pack and on Saturday the 1935 forwards carried on the tradition by holding Stratford in loose play and set scrums. Scanlon will be missing this year but in his place the club has gained three promising players in Sutton, Woodward and McKay. J. Corlett, Rumball and Corney are three of last year's players turning out once more. i , J. T. Shaw may not be able to take his place in the back line at the beginning of the season, but many of the old team are available. Simpson, a junior last year, is at half, Corkill will probably play first five-eighth, Grant, former New Plymouth Boys’ High School player, second five-eighth and Shaw centre. L. Corlett is a sound full-back and the wing positions lie between McRoberts, O’Byrne and E. Corlett with the possibility of N. Ross playing again. Inglewood has had a tendency marked in some teams, to play its best football against the strongest clubs and then play badly against weaker fifteens. With the team definitely planned at the beginning of , the season Inglewood should develop an individuality and be able this year to play its own game regardless of the other side’s, merits.
