A Royal Australian Air Force machine crashed at Werribee to-day, and the pilot, Flying-Officer Clive Egerton, aged 28 years, was killed. . .. . An eye-witness stated that one wing of the plane appeared to collapse. The pilot attempted to use a parachute, _ which, however, became entangled with the damaged wing. The machine fell from an altitude of 1500 feet and was smashed to atpms. The pilot’s body was terribly mangled. Flying-Officer Egerton was carrying out a test flight after having overhauled the machine.
