CAREY-O’SHEA. Aileen Veronica, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. A. O’Shea, Three Kings, Auckland, to James, third son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Carey, Stuart Road, Eltham, Taranaki.

KAPUNI TWENTY-FIRST BIRTHDAY.

MISS OLIVE WHEELER HONOURED The twenty-first birthday of Miss Olive Wheeler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Wheeler, Kapuni, was celebrated on Friday evening by a gathering of about 200 friends at the hall. Mr. J. Leslie proposed, the chief toast of the evening and congratulated Miss Wheeler on attaining her majority. He asked her to accept a large collection of gifts and wished her happiness. He presented her with a golden key.. iCtiss Wheeler replied thanking her friends for the honour accorded her. She cut a large two-tier birthday cake surmounted by 21 kewpies. Mr. H. Eliason proposed the toast )of the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler, and Mr. Wheeler replied thanking- those present for honouring his daughter in such a manner. « The evening was spent with dancing, music being played by Messrs. B. Eliason and M. Whalen, Mrs.. L. Whalen, Misses Harding and J. Rogers.' Musical items were contributed by Mr. Andreoli, Master Scott and little Miss: Scott. Mr. C. Paterson was master of ceremonies.

WOMEN’S DIVISION SOCIAL.

Mrs. S. J. Bennett entertained members of the Tokaora branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union at a social afternoon last week. A bring and buy stall did brisk business and the branch funds will benefit to the extent of nearly £3. Musical items were given by Mesdames Beasley and Nielson (Eltham), Peacock and Stewart, and a monologue was given by Mrs. C. Twaddle. Competitions were won by Mesdames Peacock- and Kavanagh. A competition for a box of handkerchiefs was won by Mesdames Ritter and Sly. Those present were Mesdames Peacock, Jordan, Tippett, Ritter, Twaddle, Neilson, Beasley, Sly, Atkinson, Kerrisk, Stewart, Jennings, Palmer, Tosland, Burton, R. Bennett and Miss Aroa. Mrs. Bennett, who was assisted by her daughters, Mesdames Millar and.. Bettridge, and Misses L. and A. Bennett, to receive her guests was wearing a smart pale blue frock. Mrs. Peacock (president) thanked Mrs. Bennett for organising the gathering.
