RAIN DEVELOPING IN SOUTH.

Wellington, Last Night.

Scattered rains are still probable between Hawkes Bay and East Cape, but elsewhere the weather should be fine at first, states the 4 p.m. forecast. Later rain may commence in the far southwest and south. Conditions should be mild. Pressure is high to the south-east of New Zealand and rather low to the north-east A depression covers the western Tasman. Winds will be southeast to north-east, gradually becoming more northerly, light to moderate generally but freshening in the south. Seas will be rough at first between Cape Palliser and East Cape but smooth to moderate elsewhere.
