MINISTER FAREWELLED
GATHERING AT WHAREHUIA. The accommodation of the Stanley Road Church was severely taxed on Thursday evening during a farewell concert in honour of Rev. T. Skuse, who has been appointed to St. Kilda’s Church, Dunedin. A concert by the Bible class and Sunday school scholars was given during the first part of the evening. Mr. T. Bell, who presided, thanked Mr., Skuse for his work among the country people and presented him and Mrs. Skuse and Miss Ella Skuse with tokens of appreciation. Mrs. Skuse and Miss Skuse were presented with bouquets by Margaret Sheriff and Gwennie Anderson. On behalf of the Bible class, Mr. L. Hosking thanked Mr. Skuse for his leadership and organisation. Mr. Ron Bird (local preachers) spoke appreciatively of Mr. Skuse’s interest and help and of Mrs. Skuse’s hospitality. Mr. W. J. Wellington and Mr. Jackson paid tributes to Mr. Skuse on behalf of the residents of the district.
Mr. Skuse said it had always been pleasant to visit Wharehuia. He thanked the people for their hospitality, and for their response.
Supper was then served by a women’s committee.

Mclver; dialogue, Bible class scholars; monologue, Mrs. Anderson; dialogue, Bible class scholars.
ELTHAM WOMEN’S GOLF. MISS RITTER WINS TROPHY. Miss L. Ritter with a score of 95—21— 74 was the winner of Mrs. A. O. Casey’s trophy at the Eltham golf links yesterday. Other good scores were: Mrs. Turner 96—19—75, Miss Fountaine 92—16—76, Mrs. Stanners 97—19—78, Mrs. McKay 109—33— 76.
