DAMAGE BY CYCLONE
NORTH-WESTERN AUSTRALIA. PEARL LUGGERS ENDANGERED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright Perth, March 29. A cyclone occurred on the north-west coast of Australia on Wednesday night. All telegraph lines are down between Wyndham and Broome, and the fate of several pearling luggers is in doubt. The steamer Koolinda wirelessed that she had rescued ten members of the crew of one lugger. SEVERAL LUGGERS MISSING. GRAVE FEARS FOR SAFETY. Rec. 10 p.m. Perth, March 29. Grave fears are entertained for the crews of 13 of the 20 pearling luggers from the Broome fleet which were caught in the cyclone. The steamer Koolinda has picked up the crews of two luggers. It is known that the crews of five others are safe but the remainder are in doubt.
