autumn meeting ends RED MANFRED WINS BIG EVENT. LEGATEE’S SIRES PRODUCE STAKES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston N., Last Night. ' The autumn meeting of the Manawatu Racing Club was concluded on Saturday in fine but overcast weather, and before a good attendance. The track was perfect. The totalisator handled £14,194 10s against £Blll 10s on the second day last year. The total for the meeting was £26,285, compared with £17,603 10s last year, an increase of £B6Bl 10s. Results:— . The weather for the concluding day of the Manawatu meeting was fine and ; the course in excellent order. The chief ' handicap fell to Red Manfred who beat Might nicely. Cottesmore won the open six and Legatee the Sires Produce Stakes. C. Thomson, rider of Tareha, who fell in the hurdle race, had his collarbone broken. Easy Win for Illuminate. Mishaps aided Illuminate to score a decisive victory in the Kairanga Hurdles. . Te Ua, Tareha and Illuminate were the leaders half a mile from home and at the fence crossing the top Te Ua jumped the course railing. Tareha and Illuminate came at the last hurdle together, Tareha falling and allowing Illuminate to score a twenty lengths victory from Pango, who beat Park Acre by four lengths, ; with Bun Tuck fourth. Te Ua received frightful injuries and was shot, his rider , P. Burgess was unhurt. Acceptable a Good Sort.

Acceptable, who was second favourite, nearly as well backed as Cawbeen, for the Lockwood Handicap, won by two lengths pulling up. He was in . front early and led into the straight from Hatuma, who always was well placed. Coronilla was just behind these two and Dollar Bill was next Coronilla headed Hatuma at the foot of the straight and lasted just, long enough to beat Owlsgleam for second place. Contact a head away fourth finishing fast, and close up to the placed division were.

Cawbeen, Hatuma, Count Willonyx, Harvest Moon and Wahine Mui. Merry Cry bolted and eventually got away a chain behind the field. The winner was always speedy and has’come very solid. Coronilla, Hatuma, Cawbeen, Contact and Dollar Bill all ran well. The Tamatete Handicap. Korokio and Red Sun made most of the running in the Tamatete Handicap from Rust and Aga Khan, with Might next and Red Manfred and Davistock last. There were few changes in position till the field entered the straight, when Red Manfred pounced on the leaders and soon had the race in hand. Hard-: ridden Might finished second a little in front of Red Sun, with Hazoor fourth,. Run Solid Finisher. Cyclonic, Arena, Sanguine King and Pomp ran in line to the straight in the Stonyhurst Handicap, with Midian, Ruri and Full Throttle following, and Walton Park last Cyclonic had just beaten the others in a hard finish when Ruri shot through with a devastating run and won by a neck, with Pomp another neck away third and Arena fourth. Then came Miss Hushabye, Full Throttle and Navaho. Pomp could not quite see it out. Ruri never was in better form. Full Throttle and Walton Park were. unlucky at the start. Legatee’s Produce Stakes. In a great finish with Severe Legatee won the Sires’ Produce Stakes. Heritage was favourite at a short price and Legatee next in demand. Legatee and Severe were first away and led to the turn, with Heritage, who got away badly, coming through the middle of the field. Legatee had nearly a two lengths lead at tlie entrance to the straight, but. Severe shot up to him and in a great set-to Reed got Legatee home by a very short head; Heritage was three lengths away third, Happy Landing fourth, and then came Alchemic and Corroboree. Entail was bracketed with Severe. Heritage lost his chance at the start. Happy Landing finished strongly. Jubilee Song Again. State Bank and Jubilee Song were- the favourites for the Longbum Handicap but at good prices. When the field had settled down Celerimus, Jubilee Song, Royal Record, Dialogist, Secrecy, Leprechaun, Hunting Bag, State Bank, High Grader and Aussie Ra was the order of running. At the home turn Jubilee Song 'led slightly from Royal Record, with Celerimus, Leprechaun, State Bank, Secrecy, Dialogist and’ Hunting Bag following. Jubilee Song had the other easily beaten in the straight and won by a length and a-half from Leprechaun, who was at a long price. Two lengths back

came State Bank, then Pukeko, Royal Record, Dialogist and Panloff. The Open Sprint. Souchong led Mafa Hari to the straight in the Telegraph Handicap, with.Cottesmore and Bodyline next, and Rereatu and Princess Doreen well back. Cottesmore came through on the home turn and joined Mata Hari and Souchong. In a great finish the three crossed the line together, Cottesmore just winning from Souchong and Mata Hari, who deadheated for second. Rereatu was a moderate fourth, followed by Princess Doreen, Refresher and Bodyline. Final Event to Sunee. Sunee was a good favourite for the Adderstone Handicap, with Darecourt, Onewhetu and Confiscation also well backed in a big pool. Darecourt led along the back from Lord Moutoa, Sweet Music, Tupurangi, Onewhetu, Sunee and Royal Dash and the order was the same into the straight. In a hard finish Sunee just won from Ingenuity, who finished fast, with Darecourt a close third. Marching Song was fourth and then Sweet Music. • . \ .
