Mr. C. H. Treadwell announced that he was retiring from the presidency owing to ill-health, and Mr. Donnelly (Christchurch), paying him a tribute, said that all members of the council felt the deepest gratitude for the work done by Mr. Treadwell for the society over a longer period than the lifetime.of some of those present at the meeting. Speakers from other centres associated themselves with the remarks of Mr. Donnelly.
