STEAMER BEACHED
LOAD OF WHEAT FOR JAPAN. SHIP LOST AT CAPE TORRENS. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyrigh t. Adelaide, March 21. Leaking badly in all holds, the Japanese freighter Portland Maru, fully loaded with a cargo of wheat for the East, was beached half a mile from the shore on a short treacherous stretch of shingle off Cape Torrens. She had been in danger of foundering after battling against heavy seas.
