“BLEEDING” JUNIORS 1 ACTION OF TOWN SENIOR TEAMS. CONFLICTING CARDIFF IDEAS. Conflicting opinions on the question of senior clubs drawing on junior teams for players were offered the annual meeting of the Cardiff Rugby Football Club on 1 Wednesday night. The chairman, Mr. H. I B. Limmer referred to the subject in his c annual- report, in which he stated that j junior teams were in .existence to. encourage the game and that junior teams . t should be proud to see their players s selected by senior teams. Mr. P. Hom took, the converse view and seriously. 1 criticised what he termed the “bleed- 1 ing” of junior teams. CARDIFF DISTRICT NEWS. SURPRISE PARTY HELD. A surprise party visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. Shannon, Cardiff, to celebrate the coming-of-age of their daughter Betty. Winners at cards were Mrs. P. Marchant and Mr. D. Shannon. On behalf of the guests Mr. H. Marchant presented Miss ' Shannon with, a clock. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Shannon, Mr. and Mrs. D. Brunton, Mr. and Mrs. P. Marchant, Mr. and Mrs. C. Hawkes, Mr. and Mrs; D. Cameron, Mr. ’and' Mrs. H. Marchant, the Misses Betty and Ray Shannon, Thomson, Ross and M; Brunton and Mr. A. Shannon. TENNIS AT MATIERE.- • TOURNAMENT FOR TROPHIES. A tournament for trophies provided by the club was played on the Waikaka Tennis Club’s courts on Saturday afternoon. Miss M. Beaton (59 points) won the women’s prize, Miss M. McClure and Miss D. Richardson tying for second place with 57 points each. Among the men R. Bell and D. Mossman tied for first place with 61 ' points, R. Bell 'winning the ■ deciding toss. G. Rhynd and W. Raitt tied for the second prize With 59 points each: The president of the club, Mr. H. Raitt, congratulated the winners. The arrangements for the tournament were in the hands of Miss U. Granville, the club captain. Following were points gained:— Women: Miss M. Beaton 59, Miss D. Richardson 57, Miss M. McClure 57, Miss E. Blackwell 54, Mrs.- T. Richardson 49. ■ Men: R. Bell 61; D. Mossman 61, G. Rhynd 59, W. Raitt 59, E. Blackwell 57, E. Mossman 50, I.
