FITZROY CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS. BENNETT AND MACLEAN VYING. L. Bennett leads C. J. Maclean by one point in the Fitzroy Surf Club’s annual championships, most of the events in which were held at the New Plymouth baths on Tuesday night. There is only the 220 yards to be decided. There were good fields last night. Details are:— 100 yards: C. Maclean 1, L. Bennett 2, L. Charters 3; six started. Dive: L. Bennett 1, J. Spedding 2, L.’ Charters 3; seven entered. 50 yards: C. Maclean 1, L. Bennett 2, L. Charters 3; seven started. 33 1-3 yards breaststroke: L. Bennett 1, C. Maclean 2, N. J. Gardiner 3; six started. 33 1-3 yards backstroke: C. Maclean 1, L. Bennett 2, J. Spedding 3; three started. With only the 220 yards to be swum next Tuesday the position in regard to championship points is: L. Bennett 12, C. Maclean 11, L. Charters 3, J. Spedding 3, N. J. Gardiner 1.
