EGMONT HOMING CLUB

RACE FOR YOUNG BIRDS. The first race of the Egmont Homing Club’s young bird programme was held on Saturday between Westmere and New Plymouth, an airline distance of 80 miles. Although the birds, which were liberated by the stationmaster had to contend with a strong head-wind, good times were recorded. The results were: J. James’ “Windy,” 2hr 44m, 1; H. J. Moverley’s “Millimetre,” 2hr 44m 15s, 2; J. Wilson’s “415,” 2hr 45m 50s, 3; S. Rogers’ "327,” 2hr 45m 555, 4. The next race will be from Feilding on March 23. No race will be flown on March 30, so that young bird show fanciers may exhibit without weakening their race teams. Entries for the show close on March 22 at 5 p.m.
