SCHOOL ATHLETICS

STRATFORD SPORTS DAY BIG PROGRAMME COMPLETED. CLOSE COMPETITION RESULTS. A full day of athletics occupied the pupils of the Stratford primary school yesterday, when the annual athletic sports were held on Victoria Park. her ® were large entries in a large number of events, necessitating highly ■ efficient organisation to complete the programme. The management and general arrangements were excellent, however, and the full programme went without a hitch. Some exceptionally close finishes were seen in the shorter distance events, a heat having to be run again in one instance, about six boys having finished first equal. A particularly good performance was put up by J. O’Carroll, who in the intermediate championship won all five events. An interesting feature of the senior championship was that the boys’ was won by W. Saggers, and 1 the girls’ by Iris Saggers, his sister.
