VALUE OF RADIATION

eart-v treatment of cancer. INVESTIGATIONS AT MELBOURNE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, March 13. Several doctors who attended the surgeons’ congress at Melbourne returned by the Wanganella. Among them was Sir louis Barnett, who when interviewed spoke of numerous valuable addresses delivered by visiting authorities from Europe and America. With regard to cancer, he said the reports of careful investigations into the relative merits of radiation and surgical operations were laid before the congress, and from these it could be seen that whilp operative procedures’ were still desirable in a considerable number of rases seen, early radiation as an alternative means of treatment was steadily gaining ground and found special importance in even what might be considered incurable cases from an operative point of view.
