HIGH SCHOOL TEAM

The annual cricket match between teams from the New Plymouth Boys’ High School and the Wanganui Collegiate School will be played at Wanganui to-day and to-morrow. For several years now the games have been keen, although time has prevented a definite decision being reached. In the High School team, the strongest batting side in North Taranaki, Larkin and Donnelly are outstanding, being first and second respectively in the northern averages. Waters, Johns and Broughton have performed well throughout the season and Carroll and Urry are two batsmen who have shown promise. •

The bowling is not strong, the most dangerous being Urry, who has been inconsistent this season. Larkin bowls steadily but has little deception. Donnelly is useful as a change bowler. Marsden- is a promoted junior player who bowls a fast ball with a good action and obtains lift from the wicket. At present he is lacking in experience. The players selected are M. P. Donnelly (captain), T. C. Larkin (vicecaptain), N. Waters, J. Broughton, H. Johns, V. Carroll, R. Urry, I. B. Faris, M. Marsden, J. Simpson, J. Steven and I. Duff.
