QUESTIONS IN HOUSE

THE DUNEDIN QUADRUPLETS.

INCIDENCE OF THE SALES TAX.

By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night.

Replying to Mr. F. Jones in the House of Representatives to-day the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes said the matter of Government recognition of the birth of quadruplets at Dunedin would receive the consideration of the Government. Mr. Jones asked the Minister of Finance whether he would introduce amending legislation this session to remove anomalies that had arisen in connection with the administration of the sales tax. He said his question was prompted by the position that had arisen in the tailoring trade at Dunedin. The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates replied that it was not proposed to amend the sales tax during the present session. It was considered that the existing law was adequate to deal with any problems that might arise. The position of the bespoken tailoring trade was receiving careful consideration, and it was hoped the matter would be satisfactorily completed at an early date.
