UNHURT AFTER 60FT FALL

VVHILE working on the new Post Office building at Newcastle pn Tyne, a man—J. Morgan—fell 60ft down a narrow lift shaft, and was not'seriously hurt. Fortunately, the lift was at the top, and there was a depth of 4ft of water at the bottom. The shaft is only just wide enough to permit the passage of a • matt s body. Morgan missed several obstructions protruding from the sides and also a mass of foundation masonry rising out of the water. His wrist was sprained.
