After sleeping for nearly 24 years, Miss Anna Swanepoel, aged 44, has returned to cdnsciousness. When she was 20 she became engaged to a young man, but her father forbade her to marry him. and in despair he took his life. Hysterical with sorrow, Miss Swanepoel fell into a cataleptic trance. For 11 years she did not recover consciousness at all, and whfen in 1921 she did awake it was for only a short while. There have been brief periods of semicbnsciousriess since, but it was only recently that she became fully conscious. Doctors, fearing that she will relapse, are making efforts to inspire in her a desire to live. '
