GOLF COUNCIL MEETS

DATES FOR CHAMPIONSHIPS.

SCORE ALLOTTED OHURA CLUB. The monthly, meeting of the council of the New Zealand Golf Association (Inc.) was held at Wellington on Monday, when there were present Sir Alexander Roberts (chairman), Messrs. A. D. S. Duncan, W. E. A. Gill, J. H. s Drake, A. R. Sclanders and G. 0. Sutton (secretary). The following clubs were elected members of the association: Havelock North, Oaro, Pdngakawa Country, RemUera and Wallingford. The Christchurch Club approved of the suggested dates for the tournament, October 11 to October 19, and these were definitely decided upon by the council. Applications for the 1936 championships from the Napier and Hamilton clubs will be considered in due course. The audited statement of the expenses of the tour of the British golfers was approved. The final statement showed a loss on the tour of £290 2s 6d. It was decided to send a copy of the statement to each club that entertained the visitors and to forward an audited copy to Mr. Arthur Sims, London, who had guaranteed the expenses of the trip, and inform him of the difficulties regarding finance owing to the fact that the season was very unsuitable and because Gene Sarazen had just made a tour of New Zealand. It was resolved, to inform Mr. Sims with reference to his guarantee that the association was prepared to share the loss with him. The secretary, reported that the Hon. Sir Thomas Wilford had brought to New Zealand large copies of a well-known photograph of old Tom Morris of St. Andrew’s. In accordance with Sir Thomas’ wishes- these had been distributed aihongst certain affiliated clubs. It was- reported that a score of 66 had been allotted to the Ohura Golf Club and that the score of the Geraldine District Golf Club had been altered to 74.
