ELTHAM FRONTIERSMEN
ELECTION OF OFFICERS. At the annual meeting of the Eltham Legion of Frontiersmen a comprehensive report was presented showing a successful year with the balance-sheet in a satisfactoi-y position. The report stated that in shooting, the troop won the Vickeridge Cup for the fourth consecutive year. On the long range members had assisted materially in winning the Compton Memorial and D’Esterre Cups for M. Squadron. Medal shoots were won by Troopers Packard, Mancer, Belcher and Corporal Gyde. Parades on Anzac Day at Hawera and Kaponga were well attended, while the Armistice Day church parade of M, Squadron had been an outstanding success. Parades for drill purposes had achieved their . object. Public services rendered were in connection with the Eltham jubilee, charity ball, the visit of H.R.H. the Duke of Gloucester, and assistance to the Boy Scouts. Trooper Butler, was appointed to headquarters staff with the rank of Sergeant-Major. At the annual conference at Napier Q.M.S. Foord was the recipient of the Pioneer's Axe, the highest decoration obtainable by a member of the Legion. The report thanked members for their support, special reference being made to Trooper Pratt, Corporal Gyde and Guy, Q.M.S. Foord, members of the social committee, and Sergeant McGarrigle.
Lieut. C. Carncross was re-elected troop leader unopposed. Sergeant McGarrigle and Corporal Guy were re-ap-pointed and Mr. H. N. Murray was reappointed auditor. Votes of thanks.to all who had given assistance were passed.
