CIVIL ENGINEERS
MANY STILL UNEMPLOYED. REDUCTION IN MEMBERSHIP. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland. Last Night. The annual j .eeting of the New Zealand Society of Civil Engineers has commenced at Auckland. The report stated that the membership for the year ended on December 31 showed a small but disappointing reduction. The total was 474, a decrease of five. The number of engineers known to be unemployed was less than last year, but there appeared to be little change in respect of recently qualified students and more elderly unemployed engineers. The treasurer’s report stated that income amounted to £1326 and expenditure to £1465. The following officers were elected: President, Mr. H. Vickerman, Wellington; vice-president, Mr. J. McG. Wilkie, Dunedin; treasurer, Mr. J. Marchbanks, Wellington; council, Messrs. F. M. Corkill (Invercargill), F. W. Furkert (Wellington), F. W. Maclean (Wellington), F. E. de Guerrier (Auckland) and J. G. Lancaster (Wellington).
