NOTES ON THE TEAM. SOME YOUNG RUNNERS LEFT OUT. <By “Also Started.”) Though the team will give general satisfaction there are, several young athletes who might easily have been given an opportunity to take part in the big events. In selecting S. A. Black to compete in the 100, 220 and 440, the New Plymouth runner has been set a severe task and Gorringe, Stratford, might have been given his place in the 100 yards. The young New Plymouth hurdler A. Innes might also have been included in the 440 as well as the 220 yards as he can run out a good quarter.
K. Wells, the promising Stratford boy, was naturally a certainty for the mile but it would have been pleasing to have seen Ulenberg given a chance in the three miles. It was only lack of experience that beat him on Saturday and . a try out in a Dominion championship would have been invaluable to him.
The dropping of Miss N. Clark from the women’s events is rather surprising. She is just coming back to form and though beaten in the 100 yards on Saturday she accounted for both Miss Hall and Miss Coles in the 120 yards.
